Welcome to Mrs. Bain's Class

This page will provide you with some ideas of how you can practice the skills we are learning about at home with your child.
  • Continue to have your child read at home.  As they finish reading, have them summarize what they read to you.  This will help them work on comprehending what the story is about.
  • The more your child reads text that is on their individual reading level, the more fluent readers they will become.  The books your child is bringing home from guided reading will be on their level.
  • Money is a concept that can be abstract to many students.  As we begin this new unit, please ask your child what we are learning about in class.  Help your child identify the names of coins and how much each coin is worth.  Once your child is able to do this, have them practice counting various amounts of money to $1.00.
  • Although we are no longer officially working on addition and subtraction, we will continue to do Rocket Math in class.  Please continue to have your child practice addition and subtraction facts at home.
  • We will be learning about telling time.  Have your child work on telling you what time it is periodically throughout the day.  This is a simple way to have your child practice telling time.
